Glen Powell’s Parents Steal the Show with Hilarious Signs on TODAY Plaza

Glen Powell may be the star of the big screen, but his parents, Cyndy and Glen Powell Sr., are quickly becoming famous for their playful antics. The couple made headlines once again on July 17 when they appeared on the TODAY Plaza with humorous signs while their son was being interviewed on the show.

“Yeah, I recognize both of these jokers,” Glen Powell jokingly said after spotting his parents in the audience. His mom’s sign proudly proclaimed, “I changed Glen Powell’s diapers,” while his dad’s sign read, “Glen Powell is a force of nature.”

This isn’t the first time the Powells have turned up to support and lightly troll their son. Back in May, they attended the special screening of Glen’s movie “Hit Man” with equally amusing signs. One read, “Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” and the other, “It’s never gonna happen.” Glen Powell took the teasing in stride, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Even though they troll me, they support me in every way.”

Glen Powell has always credited his parents for their unwavering support and their fun-loving nature. Raised in Austin, Texas, by Cyndy and Glen Sr., the actor and his sisters, Lauren and Leslie, enjoyed a childhood filled with encouragement and humor. Glen Powell Sr. even introduced his son to movies like “Jurassic Park” and the original “Top Gun,” sparking Glen’s passion for acting at a young age.

During his appearance on TODAY, Glen revealed that his parents have made cameos in “every single” one of his movies. From a NASA employee in “Hidden Figures” to a lunch lady in “Everybody Wants Some!!” and a prison guard in “The Life of David Gale,” Cyndy and Glen Sr. have embraced their roles with enthusiasm and a touch of humor. Glen’s dad, in particular, has earned praise for his method acting skills, especially for a scene in “Anyone But You,” where he was stone-cold asleep, earning him the title of the “Daniel Day-Lewis of sleep acting.”

Their latest cameo will be in Glen Powell’s upcoming movie “Twisters,” set to hit theaters on July 19. The couple appears in a rodeo sequence, blending seamlessly into the cowboy crowd with their Texan charm. “They get quite a few frames in this movie!” Glen shared, expressing his pride in their performances.

Cyndy and Glen Sr.’s support goes beyond mere appearances. Glen Powell has often spoken about how his parents fostered his love for acting, never deterring him from pursuing his dreams, despite the industry’s challenges. “When I discovered movies, that’s all I wanted to do,” he told Us Weekly. “I just am really grateful for my parents for not trying to deter me from a job that has such a low success rate.”
