Jennifer Aniston Criticizes J.D. Vance Over Comments and Opens Up About Her Fertility Struggles
In a passionate response on social media, actress Jennifer Aniston has taken a stand against J.D. Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate for the upcoming 2024 election, over resurfaced comments he made in 2021. Vance, in an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, referred to several Democratic leaders, including Vice President Kamala Harris, as “childless cat ladies” and questioned their stake in the country’s future due to their lack of biological children.
Aniston, who has been vocal about her own struggles with fertility, did not hold back in her criticism. She shared a screenshot of the interview clip on her Instagram Story, expressing her disbelief at Vance’s remarks coming from a potential Vice President. “I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States,” Aniston wrote. “All I can say is … Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Vance’s comments originally made headlines in July 2021 when he accused Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of not having a direct stake in the country because they did not have children of their own. His statements have been widely criticized for their insensitivity and inaccuracy, as both Harris and Buttigieg do have children through their respective familial arrangements.
Aniston’s reaction stems from her personal journey with fertility issues. Aniston described her attempts to get pregnant in her 30s and 40s as a “challenging road” filled with various treatments and methods. “I was trying to get pregnant. The “Friends” star also expressed regret over not having been advised to freeze her eggs earlier in life. “I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today.
