In a delightful celebration of the legendary pop icon Celine Dion’s birthday, the Off-Broadway sensation “Titanique” is set to host a special sing-along performance on Thursday, March 28, at 7:00 PM. The audience will be treated to a night of laughter and musical magic, armed with songbooks and encouraged to unleash their inner divas. The irreverent musical parody, inspired by the iconic film Titanic and fueled by Celine Dion’s timeless songs, continues its successful run at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square, with tickets available until September 29, 2024.
Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle, and Constantine Rousouli, “Titanique” premiered Off-Broadway in June 2022 and has since become a smash hit, transferring to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November 2022. The current stellar cast includes Nicole Parker, Lindsay Heather Pearce, Michael Williams, Elliott Mattox, Russell Daniels, Brandon Contreras, Anne Fraser Thomas, and Marcus Antonio, among others.
The musical is directed by Tye Blue, with choreography by Ellenore Scott and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by IRNE Award-Winner Nicholas Connell. The production boasts a talented creative team, including scenic design by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Paige Seber, sound design by Lawrence Schober, and wig design by Tommy Kurzman.
Notably, six crew members from “Titanique” have joined The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), marking a significant development in the production workers’ pursuit of better working conditions.
In a surprising turn of events, Celine Dion made headlines with a second public appearance at Katy Perry’s final night of residency at the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas. Dion, who had kept a low profile for three years due to a serious illness, overshadowed other stars, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, at the event. The sighting has sparked hopes for the beloved singer’s return to the stage, bringing joy to fans who have missed her presence.
Adding to the excitement, a retrospective look at Dion’s iconic fashion choices highlighted her bold and avant-garde style at the 1999 Oscars. The French-Canadian singer’s decision to wear a white John Galliano tuxedo backward, defying the traditional red carpet norms, has become a timeless favorite. In a fashion landscape that now embraces unconventional choices, Dion’s daring ensemble from more than two decades ago remains an inspiration, showcasing her ahead-of-the-curve style and fearless approach to dressing.
As Hollywood prepares for the upcoming Oscars, Dion’s fashion legacy serves as a reminder of a time when red carpet looks were spontaneous and full of energy. In a world dominated by meticulously planned outfits and strategic brand deals, Celine Dion’s enduring influence continues to resonate, proving that true style transcends trends and stands the test of time.
