In the early hours of Thursday, superstar rapper Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida. The arrest occurred after a disturbance on a yacht docked at the Miami Beach Marina. Scott, 33, was charged with trespassing and disorderly intoxication, with the total bond set at $650, which he subsequently paid, leading to his release.
According to the Miami Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the marina at approximately 1:44 a.m. following reports of a fight on a yacht. Upon arrival, they found Scott yelling at the passengers on the vessel. The police report indicated a strong smell of alcohol on Scott’s breath. Despite initial compliance when asked to sit, Scott disregarded further commands, leading to his arrest.
As the officers escorted Scott away from the scene, he walked backward, hurling obscenities at the yacht’s occupants. After briefly leaving in a vehicle, Scott returned to the marina, once again attempting to approach the yacht. This behavior prompted the officers to take him into custody. At the police station, Scott admitted to consuming alcohol and remarked, “It’s Miami.”
Bradford Cohen, Scott’s attorney, issued a statement on Thursday, asserting that the arrest resulted from a misunderstanding. He emphasized that no physical altercation had occurred and expressed gratitude to the authorities for their cooperation in resolving the matter swiftly.
Scott, known for his high-energy performances and chart-topping hits such as “Sicko Mode” and “Goosebumps,” is no stranger to controversy. His concerts have occasionally led to legal issues, most notably the tragic incident at his Astroworld Festival in Houston in November 2021, where ten people died due to a crowd surge. While a grand jury did not indict Scott or the event organizers on criminal charges, multiple civil suits were filed, most of which have been settled.
On social media, Scott appeared to take the incident lightly, posting a meme of his mugshot with added sunglasses and earphones. He also tweeted a simple “Lol” shortly after his release.
Despite the arrest, Scott’s professional schedule remains packed. He is set to embark on the European leg of his “Circus Maximus” tour, starting in the Netherlands on June 28. The tour will include performances in various cities across Europe, including a show at the Co-op Live venue in Manchester on July 13.
Scott’s personal life has also been a topic of public interest. He shares two children with Kylie Jenner, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner family. The couple, although no longer together, co-parent their daughter Stormi, 6, and son Aire, 2.
